Government Issues Travel Guidelines & Health Advisory for Char Dham Yatra 2025 – Know How to Prepare Before the Journey.

The Uttarakhand government has issued essential guidelines to make the Char Dham pilgrimage smooth and safe for travelers.

This year, the Char Dham Yatra to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri begins on Akshay Tritiya, April 30, 2025, with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples. The Kedarnath and Badrinath temples will open on May 2 and May 4, respectively.

If you're planning to embark on the yatra this year, be sure to keep the following in mind.

Plan Your Journey Wisely

Plan your trip for at least 7 days so that you can travel comfortably and without rush.
Choose the right time based on weather conditions.
To avoid exhaustion during the journey, take a 5–10-minute break after every hour of trekking or after two hours of uphill driving.

Prepare Physically Before the Yatra

Practice breathing exercises for 5–10 minutes daily to help your body adapt to high altitudes.
Include a 20–30-minute walk in your daily routine.
If you are over 55 years of age or suffer from heart disease, asthma, high blood pressure, or diabetes, ensure you undergo a health check-up before the trip.

Important Packing Tips

Carry warm clothes suitable for high altitudes, such as woolen sweaters, thermal wear, puffer jackets, gloves, and socks.
Pack raincoats and umbrellas to protect yourself from rain.
Keep essential health monitoring devices like a pulse oximeter and thermometer.
Travelers with pre-existing conditions (heart disease, asthma, high BP, diabetes) must carry their prescribed medicines, testing equipment, and their doctor's contact information.
